BU Terriers vs. Vermont Catamounts Hockey Game Watch
Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (Archives/Navy Memorial Metro stop)

It's our final hockey game watch before the playoffs... come out Friday February 26th and join fellow BU alumni as we cheer on your Terriers at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (639 Indiana Avenue NW) against the Catamounts of Vermont.  The puck drops on at 7 PM, so throw on your scarlet and white, get there early, grab a seat, and order a beer... we'll be cheering loud and proud with cowbell in hand! 
 
Penn Quarter Sports Tavern is located at 639 Indiana Avenue NW (7th & Penn NW). From the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter metro stop (yellow/green line), walk a half block east on Indiana Avenue.

Happy Hour / Servathon Information
Ireland's Four Fields

The good news is St. Patricks Day is just around the corner. The better news is that instead of just reminiscing about Boston's famous St. Paddy's celebrations, you can come celebrate with BU alumni who share our nostalgia at Ireland's Four Fields on Thursday, March 11 from 6:30-8:30 pm! Take the opportunity to mix and mingle with local fellow alumni over a Guinness and some Irish chips with curry sauce.

The Northeastern University DC alumni chapter will be joining us! This year BU & NU will each have Servathon teams working on the same project site. Members of BU's and NU's Servathon teams will be present with flyers and information on the Saturday, April 24th event. Alumni are encouraged to come find out about the Servathon and join our team!

12 oz. rail drinks are set at $4 a pop and $12 for 64 oz. pitchers of draft beer.  Free appetizers will be provided while supplies last.

Four Fields is located at 3412 Connecticut Ave NW. From the Cleveland Park Metro stop, walk south for less than a block on Connecticut Avenue and there you are! Parking is also available.

ShamrockFest 2010

The National Shamrock Fest is the largest Saint Paddy's party and street festival in the D.C. region featuring more than 40 live bands and DJ's.  Enjoy a day-long festival of Rock, Irish, Blues, Retro and Folk music, as well as food, drinks and dozens of activities for all ages.  This event is unprecedented and unparalleled!!

The BU Alumni Chapter of DC has joined forces with the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) to provide special ticket prices to CAN members and to provide an area for alums to gather.  By purchasing tickets with our BU alumni specific code $4 for each regular ticket sold and $8 for each VIP ticket sold will be donated to the Sam & Evelyn Margolis Scholarship fund.

Ticket prices are currently $19.99 (regular) and $69.99 (VIP) for the event, but ticket prices will increase as the event nears. BU Terriers vs. Vermont Catamounts Hockey Game
Hat Trick Happy Hour- Caps Game, Frozen Four Broomball Rematch
Verizon Center (Chinatown/Gallery Place metro)

Come join us for the annual Hat-Trick Happy Hour and a rematch of last year's national championship!  We will start off the evening with a BU-YAHH from 5:00 to 6:45 p.m. at a Green Turtle (601 F St NW).  The happy hour is followed up by the Caps vs. Thrashers game at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $45.   They can be purchased by e-mailing Tim Bronaugh at tbronaugh@washcaps.com or calling him at 202-266-2341.  Please mention BU so you can sit with your fellow alumni!  After the Caps game, BU Alumni will be playing broomball versus Miami of Ohio in a rematch of last year's Frozen Four thrilling championship game!

Washington Nationals vs. Boston Red Sox
2-4pm Pre-game meet-up at Molly Malone's
4:05pm Game time at Nationals Park (Navy Yard metro, Green line)

Whether or not you cheer for the Sox or the Nationals, the return of baseball means springtime in the District! BU and Northeastern alums will be meeting up at Molly Malone's (713 8th Street, SE at the Eastern Market stop on the Blue/Orange lines) before the game and then taking the shuttle or walking to the stadium to see the Sox take on the Nationals in the first pre-season game at Nationals Park. Molly's Saturday specials include: $4 Miller Lite, PBR and Yuengling drafts; all other drafts $5; $1 off glasses of wine.

BU alumni tickets are in the Pavilion section of the stadium and are discounted to only $19!

Pouring for Education: Guest Bartender Fundraiser
Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (Archives/Navy Memorial Metro)

Have you ever wanted to guest bartend at one of your favorite bars for a great cause?  Well, here is your chance.  Join Dean Elmore and the BUDC Alumni Chapter as 24 guest bartenders (one of them could be you!) pour drinks at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (639 Indiana Avenue, NW ) to benefit the BUDC Sam & Evelyn Margolis Scholarship fund (LINK: http://dcbualum.org/scholarship.htm) !  Proceeds from certain beers purchased by you will go directly to the fund.  We will also be raffling off items--including a BU hockey jersey signed by our very own, Coach Jack Parker.

Greater DC Cares Servathon

For the seventh year in a row Boston University alumni will join thousands of volunteers across the region to take part in the Greater DC Cares Servathon. The workday is short, only 9am to 12:30pm, but the effects of thousands of people working together are big.

The BU Servathon team will work together on a project site such as a school or community service organization. The particular work we will be doing will depend on our project site; painting and 'light' landscaping are common tasks. Friends and family are welcome to join in! The half day of work is followed by a party with volunteers from all of the day's projects gathering for free burgers, hotdogs and beer.

Like a Walkathon, Servathon volunteers can raise pledges to support their day of service. You do not need to meet any fundraising goals however, the Servathon website will provide information and tools to help you in this effort if you wish to do so. The Servathon generates one third of DC Cares' annual budget and allows the organization to support community volunteerism year-round.

A registration fee covers the cost of project supplies, t-shirt, snacks and water.

Further details will be provided as they become available.

If you are interested in volunteering for this event or becoming a BU Servathon team leader please contact Erik at erikenger@onebox.com. If you are highly motivated, you can also become an official project manager or leader and help plan the overall project.

Co-ed CAN Soccer League Team
Sundays and/or Saturdays, April - June

BUDC is considering entering a team in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) Co-ed Soccer League. Nine games will take place on Saturdays and/or Sunday from April-June with post-season play. BUDC will be entering the 7 versus 7 division. Field location is currently TBD but will be in the DC-metro region. Alumni of all abilities are invited to sign up. BU Socks!  That’s Socks!!

Do you play a lot of sports?  Looking for some cool knee-high socks to protect your legs?  The softball and football teams are joining together to purchase custom, knee-high, sports socks.  They are red socks with three small white stripes near the knee and the word "Terriers" going down either side of the leg.  If you are interested in purchasing a pair (or two!) please PayPal $8 (per pair) to Aliza Krichevsky at aliza@alum.bu.edu, and give her your size in the message field.  Sizes are intermediate (Ladies 5 - 10 or Men's  4 ½- 8 ½) or adult (Ladies 11-12 or  Men's 9-12).
